She started her career in 1993 with Hindustan Thompson Associates (now J.Walter Thompson) – India’s number One advertising agency and known as Mecca of Media Planning. She spent five fruitful years in HTA and was instrumental in winning a whole lot of new businesses, successfully devised strategies for HLL (now HUL) brands, Kellogg’s, Godrej Group, Star plus & Star TV network, Heinz, Warner Lambert, 20th Century Fox and many more successful brands. While at HTA, she was nominated for Media Innovation awards at the Abby’s (Advertising agencies’ Oscars) for Godrej Air conditioners.
FCB ULKA (now Draft FCB) followed soon. She spent two years with FCB ULKA and was part of the Tata Indica pitch & launch in December 1998. She handled brands like AMUL, Tata Motors, Wipro, Ceat Tyres, and Lever Johnson etc. She started the in-house Media newsletter for FCB ULKA called COMPASS and was the main force behind the tabloid.
After spending seven satisfying year in Media Planning, Buying & Execution, She wanted to understand the Media Selling space. She joined www.123india.com as Head Marketing in 2000 and was soon taking care of the branding and was given additional charge of sales as well. www.123india.com soon became the top selling website under her guidance and leadership. Soon the dotcom bubble busted and the revenue model changed from advertising to paid verticals. She finally bid adieu to media selling after spending 2 years with www.123india.com and went back to her first love media planning.
Dheeraj joined The Media Edge (media division of Rediffusion DY&R). The Media Edge was the AOR (Agency on Record) for the entire Tata business. She was heading the West for the all TATA brands planning. She was taking care of 23 different Tata brands at TME (The Media Edge). She spent 2 years with TME.
In 2004, Dheeraj joined Enterprise Nexus Communications Pvt. Ltd. (now Bates David Enterprise). She was heading Media Planning, Buying & Operations at national level. She was running Enterprise Nexus media as a profit centre. When she joined, it was a 5 Cr division and she made it a 150 crore outfit in 3 years of time. She converted lot of creative clients into media clients and also pitched for only media clients. At Enterprise Nexus, she handled brands like Met Life, Killer Jeans, UNICEF, NECC, Femina, Filmfare, Times of India and many more.
One of Enterprise’s clients Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd. (brands Killer jeans, Lawman, Easies, Integriti & K Lounge) offered her a job and she joined them as Head of Marketing. She handled all the brands at KKCL and also was a part of their IPO.
From KKCL, Dheeraj moved to Provogue (India) Ltd. As Vice President – Marketing. She was taking care of all 3 businesses at Provogue (India) Ltd., Provogue, and Promart & Prozone.
After spending 1 year with Provogue, she ventured out on her own and started K&V media Pvt. Ltd., an IMC (Integrated marketing communication) agency with her husband Priyank Vashisht and her partner Abdullah Khan. In just 5 months of existence, K&V Media has successfully gained business like MPCC, Royal Palms, JSWS, Century Ply, Networth direct and Just i. Today K & V Media is a Rs. 15 crore enterprise.
